1. Rinse immediately after use
After every swim (sea, pool or shower), rinse your bikini in cold water to remove salt, chlorine, sand and sunscreen residue. These can damage elasticity, colour and fabric.
2. Hand wash
Wash your bikini by hand in cold or lukewarm water (never hot) using a mild detergent, preferably one designed for swimwear or synthetic fabrics. Avoid bleach, strong fabric softeners and harsh soaps.
3. Avoid washing machines and tumble dryers
Mechanical action, high heat and agitation can damage fibres and elastic. If you must use a washing machine, place the garment in a delicates bag, use a delicate cycle and a low temperature. Never tumble dry.
4. Dry correctly
Do not wring or twist. Gently blot with a towel to remove excess water. Lay the bikini flat to dry in a shaded, well-ventilated place. Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade or weaken the fabric.
5. Take care with sunscreens and oils
Allow sunscreen, oils and self-tanning products to absorb fully into the skin before putting on your swimwear. These products may stain or damage synthetic fibres.
6. Avoid rough surfaces
Sit or place your bikini on towels or smooth surfaces. Rocks, pool edges and abrasive surfaces can cause pilling or holes.
7. Store correctly
Make sure your bikini is completely dry before storing it. Avoid closed bags or pouches while it is still damp. Store swimwear in a cool, dry place and avoid folding directly along seams so that the elastic does not lose its shape.
8. Alternate between swimsuits
If you own more than one, rotate them and allow each swimsuit time to recover between wears so the elasticity and shape can return.
